Microsoft research has been focusing on both key research areas (quantum computing and cryptography) for a long time. This research has provided great breakthroughs in areas like quantum computing, post-quantum cryptography, quantum networking and much more. Microsoft will help with expertise and knowledge that we gained from this research. Microsoft is working on quantum technology and a quantum ecosystem to develop solutions for some of the world’s biggest problems, such as climate and development of medicines. Microsoft is well aware of its role in developing and implementing technology such as quantum technology, responsibly, safely, and in way that it can be trusted. Microsoft also actively contributes to broader political and social discussions about the principles, values, and challenges surrounding responsible technology. This means contributing to research such as HAPKIDO, which helps to better understand the risks and challenges of quantum technology, and to help navigate government and organizations responsibly. Microsoft will contribute to this project HAPKIDO with its research expertise and will support the tasks that deal with how to help prepare organizations and society with the risks and challenges in a post-quantum era and awareness creation.
